About this data
The study was carried out by the supplier of AQUALANCE™ on 20 women aged 23–67 using a gel containing either 3% AQUALANCE™ or a placebo, twice daily. Hydration was measured instrumentally at three skin depths.
It is the same concentration we use in MiraCool™. It is not a study of the finished cream. We would rather tell you that than let the numbers stand for more than they do.
The thinnest skin on your face is the test.
Most daily moisturisers stop at the cheekbone. The skin around the eyes is thinner and more reactive than the rest of the face, so anything strong enough to be a problem tends to be a problem there first.
MiraCool™ was formulated for that skin as well as the rest — which is why it can be used across the face, around the eye area and down the neck in a single step, morning and evening.
It is also why it suits skin that reacts easily. Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin, and comfortable from the first use.

A cream meant for every morning and every evening, for the face, eye area and neck, cannot contain an active that needs managing.
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived active, obtained from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia. With daily use, it supports smoother, more even-looking skin and works from the first application—in daylight or after dark, on skin that reacts easily.
If you have not come across it before, that is not unusual. It is a newer name in skincare than it deserves to be.

Waterless isn't always the right answer
Most of what we make at Kear is waterless. Concentrated balms and oils, where every drop is active and nothing is there to fill space. Not because waterless is a rule we follow, but because for those products it is what the formula asked for.
MiraCool asked for something else.
A daily moisturiser has to sit under sunscreen, under make-up, on the face and around the eyes, twice a day, without ever making itself felt. That calls for a light, fast-absorbing texture — and for AQUALANCE™, a water-soluble active that supports the skin's own water balance and cannot do its work without water to dissolve in.
The formula comes first. It always has, and that is what leads us to waterless most of the time — and away from it here.

Who it's for
Is it vegan?
Yes. MiraCool is vegan and contains no animal-derived ingredients.
Does it have a scent?
A light one, and it comes from an ingredient rather than from a fragrance compound. The scent is bergamot essential oil — soft and citrus-fresh — which settles within a minute or so of application. The formula contains no synthetic fragrance.
Bergamot brings four naturally occurring components with it — limonene, linalool, linalyl acetate and pinene. We list them because EU rules require it. They are part of the oil, not additions to it.
The bergamot we use is bergapten-free, so it does not make skin more sensitive to sunlight. It is suitable for morning use, followed by sunscreen.

Is MiraCool suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. MiraCool is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Its formula combines moisturising and skin-conditioning ingredients such as panthenol, hyaluronic acid, macadamia oil and shea butter.
As with any skincare product, if your skin is particularly reactive, we recommend patch-testing before first use.
Can I use MiraCool around my eyes?
Yes. MiraCool was formulated for both the face and eye area, so you can gently apply it around the eyes as part of your daily moisturising routine.
Avoid direct contact with the eyes.
Do I still need a separate eye cream?
Not necessarily. If you are looking for daily hydration and moisturising care around the eyes, MiraCool is designed to cover both the face and eye area in one step.
If you want more targeted care for the appearance of the eye area, you can use a dedicated serum before MiraCool.
Can I use MiraCool with One Drop Elixir or another serum?
Yes. Apply your serum first and allow it to absorb, then follow with MiraCool to moisturise the face, eye area and neck.
If using One Drop Elixir, the order is:
One Drop Elixir → MiraCool → sunscreen in the morning.
Can I use bakuchiol in the morning?
Yes. MiraCool can be used in the morning and evening, and bakuchiol does not need to be reserved for your nighttime routine.
As part of your morning skincare routine, always finish with sunscreen.
Is MiraCool a retinol cream?
No. MiraCool does not contain retinol. It contains bakuchiol, a plant-derived active often compared with retinol because the two are used to address some of the same visible skin concerns.
They are not the same ingredient, however, and we prefer to think of bakuchiol for what it brings to MiraCool: daily care for smoother, more even-looking skin alongside the cream’s moisturising formula.
Can I use it after shaving?
Yes. Shaving temporarily weakens the skin's barrier, so light, non-irritating hydration matters most. MiraCool absorbs quickly and is formulated to be comfortable on freshly shaved skin.
